DIZG (YARKHUN): Scores of houses in Dizg village of Yarkhun in Upper Chitral are still without water supply after flash floods three weeks ago.
On June 30, heavy downpours caused flash floods in Dizg and Khruzg villages, damaging supply lines of both drinking and irrigation water.
Former councillor Afsarul Mulk of Dizg told ChitralToday that last week MNA Abdul Latif and PTI Upper Chitral President Shahzada Sikendar visited the two flood-affected villages.
\”We told the MNA that we don\’t need food items, monetary assistance, but request you for the urgent restoration of the water supply to our area,\” he said.
The MNA assured the affected people that a survey team will visit the area the following day after which the flood-damaged water supply lines from Dizg Gol would be restored. However, after a week no one has turned up and the residents are without water.
The former councillor said the residents of the village, especially in Pongodur, were facing great hardship due to the unavailability of water. He requested the MNA to arrange immediate start of work on the damaged canals.
